Abstract
The purposes of this study were to analyze the relationship between social capital and recognition of employment and welfare service in three different age groups such as the young, the middle-aged, and the elderly. Data were collected by a quota sampling method from 1,216 Korean adults aged 20 and above. The results are summarized as following: Age differences were found in the recognition of employment and welfare service, which is that the recognition of those services becomes lower with age. Trust, a component of social capital, appeared as an important variable to predict the recognition of employment and welfare service in two age groups such as the young and the middle-aged. While social participation was related to the recognition of employment service for the young, it was also related to the recognition of welfare service for the middle-aged. Further discussions concerning method for promoting the recognition of employment and welfare service including social capital intervention by age were provided and the necessity of follow-up research was proposed based on the study result.
